Lexis Nexis experts required

5 Jun

OK I know you are out there. People who know the secrets to Lexis Nexis and can communicate them in simple English sentences. Please, please, please share those secrets with me here.

You see I made a new friend recently, and when we were discussing what we do, I told her I was a librarian. Oh she said, that’s so useful, would you go over searching a database with me? It’s a skill I’d like to do more with.

Now for the past year or so I have been living and breathing information about searching discovery layers. I’ve had direct access to technical and information literacy staff and I was knee deep in search and access improvements. So I said “Of course” πŸ™‚

Only it turns out the database she wants to learn more about searching is Lexis Nexis. And I don’t know anything about that one. And on first use it is not hitting me as that intuitive for navigation.

So help please …. Tips and tricks you use to navigate it πŸ™‚
